As the school year concludes, it's time to bid farewell to our remarkable student teacher, Izabella Burke, who has been an invaluable part of the Lakeview community.
From the moment she joined us, Miss Burke brought enthusiasm, creativity, and a genuine passion for teaching. Her ability to connect with our 8th graders and make learning both fun and meaningful has left a lasting impression on students and staff alike.
In her own words:
“I had the best time here at Lakeview and I learned so much about becoming an effective teacher. I loved getting to work with Mr. Murphy; he made my experience fun, easy, and personal. He allowed me to plan and teach how I designed it, which allowed me to notice areas of success and improvement. Something I did not expect was how much fun I would have. I had a blast! I loved getting to know each of my 8th graders and they will never understand how much they truly mean to me. They changed my life and made me fall in love with middle school education. The staff here is incredible and supports their teachers well.”
Looking ahead, Miss Burke is set to graduate from college and marry her fiancé, Joseph Bird, on July 19th. CONGRATS!
They will be moving to Indianapolis, where she has accepted a position teaching 7th-grade world history at Path School.
Her excitement to continue teaching middle school is truly inspiring.
We are immensely proud of Izabella and grateful for the time she spent with us.
Her dedication and warmth have made a significant impact, and she will always be a cherished member of the Lakeview Tiger family.
Wishing you all the best in your next chapter,
Your Lakeview Family

WARSAW THEATRE SUMMER CAMP - SEUSSICAL JR!
Announcing a great week-long summer opportunity presented by Warsaw Theatre for young students to learn new skills, meet new friends and have a lot of fun! SEUSSICAL JR. Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!

Lakeview Middle School students made a remarkable debut at the 2025 National Civics Bee, earning front-page recognition in the April 16 edition of the Times-Union. Ten students—Allison Goebel, Evelyn Pieuch, Riley Potter, Barrett Hoderek, Ezekiel Gardner, Luke Vander Bie, Caleb Handy, Estelle Jaumard, Mya McClain, and Andrea Martinez-Lara—were selected from over 100 essay submissions to participate in the local competition hosted by the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce at the Warsaw Performing Arts Center.
The event, designed to promote civic engagement among middle schoolers, featured multiple-choice quiz rounds followed by essay presentations judged by a panel. The top five finalists—Barrett, Andrea, Luke, Ezekiel, and Allison—impressed judges with their poise, professionalism, and insightful proposals. Ultimately, Barrett Hoderek secured first place and a $500 prize, Andrea Martinez-Lara earned second place with $250, and Luke Vander Bie took third with $125.
All participants received certificates recognizing their achievements.
This initiative was brought to Lakeview by District Media Services Coordinator Amanda Scroggs, who discovered the opportunity through her membership with the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce. Scroggs expressed enthusiasm for expanding the program next year, including inviting this year's eighth-grade students to return as mentors and coaches for future participants.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Lakeview Middle School educators April Boggs (ELA 8), Lynn Studebaker (ELA 7), and Brandon Murphy (Social Studies), whose dedication and guidance were instrumental in preparing students for the National Civics Bee. Their commitment to fostering civic understanding and critical thinking skills provided students with the tools and confidence to excel in the competition. Their encouragement and mentorship not only contributed to the students' success but also inspired a deeper appreciation for civic engagement among all participants.
