Warsaw FFA Excels at State Livestock Skillathon Competition

WARSAW, IN - The Warsaw FFA Chapter recently competed in the Indiana 4-H/FFA State Livestock Skillathon Career Development Event (CDE) at Purdue University’s Animal Science Research Farms. This year’s event drew an impressive turnout with 797 participants and 262 teams from across Indiana.
In the Senior FFA division, Warsaw Senior FFA Team #1 placed 24th overall out of 156 teams. Individual results included Abigail Gordon, who earned an outstanding 4th place overall, followed by Alayna Alexander (155th), Ayla Hatfield (221st), and Natalie Hohman (334th). Warsaw Senior FFA Team #2 finished 129th with team members Ivan Puga (356th), Gretchen Robinson (370th), and Sadie Reed (504th).
Teams were coached by Warsaw FFA Advisors Mrs. Madelyn Kelsheimer and Mr. Jacob Riley. The Livestock Skillathon challenges students to demonstrate their knowledge of animal science and livestock management. Participants identify livestock breeds, feedstuffs, equipment, and retail meat cuts, and apply their understanding of animal health, care, and industry standards through practical, hands-on experiences.
