Senior Spotlight time! Here is Elizabeth Stone, who is planning on going into the medical field after high school!
“As a senior, I have taken all 4 PLTW Biomedical classes and am currently in Biomedical Innovations with one of my favorite teachers, Mrs. Love! One of my favorite parts of PLTW classes is the independence we have! The PLTW teachers at Warsaw do a really great job of instilling in us the value of hands-on learning and giving us lots of freedom to do experiments, create labs, and learn from our mistakes.
A big reason I decided to take these classes is the lifelong fascination I have had with science, especially the beautiful complexity of the human body. I have dreamed of being a doctor for as long as I can remember and after graduation, I hope to transform this passion into a career by majoring in Neuroscience and Philosophy! I then hope to continue to med school to be either a surgeon or an OBGYN.
I have really enjoyed the PLTW classes at Warsaw because they have allowed me to escape the monotony of a traditional classroom setting. We do so many hands-on labs, dissections, projects, and presentations and these have really helped me to realize that not only do I absolutely LOVE science, but more importantly, that it is ok to make mistakes and be wrong. It is all part of the learning process :)
The PLTW classes are also taught by some of Warsaw's best teachers ;) Mrs. Love and Mr. Bauer have been such a big part of my development as a student and person and I am so grateful for their impact. But, I think the big reason why I love the PLTW classes and the field of medicine is because it is ALL about helping others :) I find a lot of joy in making others' lives better and the opportunity to do so in the medical field gives me so much hope for the future!” -Elizabeth Stone
