Warsaw Area Career Center (WACC) Building Trades students recently joined forces with Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County. Their mission is to build for local families using local volunteers and contractors. When WACC students volunteered, they helped a local family make a life-changing move to homeownership. Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
Dallas Lancaster told Ben Barkey, incoming WACC Director and Principal, "I think it's amazing that we are out here using our abilities and skills to give back to the community; it's going to be helpful to the owner of this house." Eduardo Escutia added, "I think this is an excellent program. I'm glad to be able to help out with the trusses and help this community." Dennis Judy, Construction Manager with Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County for three years appreciated having the WACC students on site. Judy expressed, "It's been an awesome day watching these students work and do quality work. It has really sped us up and is moving us ahead of schedule; it's more than we can do on our own with our regular volunteers."
