Advanced Life Science: Animals (dual college credit, science credit)- In Mr. Riley's Advanced Life Science: Animals class, they are studying the respiratory system of mammals and its interaction with the heart and circulatory system. Students were able to dissect a sheep pluck, which includes the heart, aorta, lungs, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, and diaphragm, to discover lung function and how oxygen is brought into the animal body and how carbon dioxide is removed. This investigation also provided an opportunity to scrutinize the interdependence of these two systems.

Animal Science (dual college credit, science credit)- In Mr. Riley's Animal Science class, they are investigating biosecurity procedures that help to keep animals safe and pathogen free. This activity examines biosecurity control points for common agricultural practices. Students are given a scenario to investigate three levels of risk. Students will then incubate the nutrient agar petri dishes to see what pathogens are present.

On Monday, October 19th, 60+ Adult Roles & Responsibility students in Mrs. Lancaster's classes took part in our Community Led Interviews. This year it was mostly virtual with the exception of some teachers, counselors and administrators that were able to assist in person. Animal Science with Mr. Riley (dual credit, science credit): Students are completing their first round of research for their individual Producer's Management Guide. Students choose what animal species and breed to research throughout the course of the year. So far, the students have researched the following topics for their chosen animal species and breed: basic information, scientific classification, specific care and welfare required, along with innate and learned behaviors. Great individualized learning that is tailored to each students' interests!

Students in Intro to Agriculture with Mrs. Bartman participated in a drawing twins activity. This was used to work on their communication skills. Students sat back to back and one student described to the other student what they needed to draw. They had to only use shapes, numbers and directions (left, right, up, down, etc.). They then evaluated what went well and what went wrong with their directions.
